Israel’s soldier Gilad Shalit was kidnapped by Hamas about 950 days ago (almost three years). In stark violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War and international law, Hamas disallows any visitations of Shalit, even by the Red Cross. Shalit is not allowed to write or receive letters from his family or anyone from the world. Additionally, it appears that Hamas denied Shalit proper treatment for his injuries. Shalit has been kept in isolation since his capture. In contrast, Israel allows the Red Cross and even family members of Hamas terrorists regular visitations of the imprisoned terrorists, solely due to humanitarian considerations. There is no international law that affords convicted terrorists any such rights. It is mind-boggling that Israel’s leaders do not take all legal measures to apply pressure on Hamas vis-à-vis Shalit, who is treated cruelly and inhumanely by his captors. Enough with this irrational behavior that gives Hamas a free pass. We demand that Israel imposes total cessation of all visitations of Hamas terrorists. Such visitations are done out of good will, while the other side is laughing at the Israeli meek response. According to their cultural values and morals, the Israeli government shows weakness which begs for contempt. All such unilateral gestures afforded to Hamas terrorists weaken the Israeli negotiation position and power. The undersigned call the Israeli government to stop and cease all visitations to Hamas terrorists held in Israeli prisons until such time that Gilad Shalit is afforded regular visits by the Red Cross, receives proper medical treatment, and is allowed to communicate with his family. Thank You, Yoram, Haifa, Israel [email protected] תרגום לספרדית Suspender las visitas a detenidos del Hamas mientras no se permitan la visitas al soldado israeli Guilad Shalit por parte de la Cruz Roja El soldado israeli Guilad Shalit , fue secuestrado de territorio israeli por el Hamas hace cerca de 950 dias , casi 3 años y hasta la fecha no ha recibido ni una sola visita, en completa violacion a las normas establecidas en la Convencion de Ginebra acerca del trato de prisoneros de guerra y a las leyes internacionales. Hamas no autoriza visita alguna a Shalit incluso de la misma Cruz Roja. A Shalit no le es permitido ni escribir ni recibir cartas de sus familiares ni de nadie. Inclusive aparentemente Hamas a denegado la atencion medica a Shalit debido a sus heridas. Shalit ha permanecido en completo aislamiento desde su secuestro. En cambio Israel permite a la Cruz Roja y aun a familiares de los detenidos miembros de la organizacion terrorista Hamas realizar visitas regulares a los terroristas detenidos, solamente en base a consideraciones humanitarias ya que no hay ninguna ley internacional que otorgue ese derecho a terroristas convictos. Es mas que sorprendente que las autoridades de Israel no apliquen todas las normas legales posibles para presionar al Hamas respecto a Shalit, quien es tratado cruel e inhumanamente por sus captores. Basta ya con esta actitud que tolerante hacia el Hamas. Exigimos que el Gobierno de Israel suspenda en forma inmediata todas las visitas a detenidos del Hamas. Esas visita son autorizadas como actos de buena voluntad cuando la otra parte se burla de los mismos ya que de acuerdo con sus valores culturales y morales, ya que el Hamas juzga que el Gobierno israeli actua de esta forma debido a su debilidad. Todos los gestos unilaterales por parte de Israel son siempre aprovechados por los terroristas del Hamas para debilitar las posiciones israelies en las negociciones. Quienes firmamos esta peticion solicitamos al Gobierno de Israel que se interrumpan y cesen toda visita a los terroristas del Hamas detenidos en prisones en Israel hasta tanto se le permitan visitas regulares de la Cruz Roja a Guilad Shalit, reciba tratamiento medico adecuado y le sea permitido comunicarse con su familia.
