The alleged brutal act of gang rape in Cyprus, that was followed by other stories from the past week, has ignited difficult emotions within the Israeli society. As we hear the reports of the mainstream Israeli media, which mainly showcase the version of the rape suspects whilst presenting a one sided image of sexual violence, we, as a feminist, independent media platform which represents both men and women from all walks of Israel, ask to condemn by all means any form of sexual violence. Facing the imbalanced media coverage, we feel the urge to make a statement: We embrace the complainant, believe her and wish to remind her - you are not alone in this difficult time. We also wish to emphasise our support of the legal system in Cyprus, and our hopes that it will uncover the truth and do all within its power to fully exercise the law upon the suspects. Sexual violence has no color, age, religion, nationality or geographical bounders. We stand with each and every survivor, no matter who and where. You are not alone.
