How to deal with terror tunnels.

The idea is basically not to destroy the terror tunnels (and return to the state of uncertainty where the army needs to detect newly build tunnels), but rather keep them in place and try to control them making them dangerous for the enemy but usable (for missions deep inside of their territory) for our army. Creating a parallel system of tunnels (to the one that got into our control) will be extremely difficult and could be detected and captured as well.

In order to achieve this goal following needs to be done:

(1) effective and secure way to detect dangers inside of the tunnels,(2) effective and secure way to create maps of them and routinely patrol them,(3) make them dangerous for the enemy.

I assume that navigating with a small helicopter (either radio or cable controlled) through the tunnels is impossible for a number of technical reasons, so now the funny part: (1) and (2) probably could be done with the help of small monkeys (small - due to logistical reasons and they are more difficult to get hit by the enemy) equipped with video cameras and geo-location mappers (all this connected by a cable to the surface; radio control with mobile batteries might be implemented in future). Monkeys need to be taught to respond to electrical stimulations the way horses respond to mechanical stimulations for their control. Such monkeys could operate alone in certain radius from the opening or together with troops (running 50 meters in front and/or beyond them). (3) probably can be done by placing anti-personnel mines. In places where they can not be hidden under the ground due to concrete, they should be placed on the surface (camouflaged as garbage (inside plastic bottles, cartons, etc); to this end real garbage also needs to be placed in the tunnels) and activated by infra-red and/or light detectors (they should be smart enough to distinguish between people and animals since the enemy will want to eliminate the mines by sending dogs, etc.; this can be done based on size/speed in the case of infra-red mines and weight otherwise). It should be possible to (temporarily) deactivate them by sending some encoded radio signals, so troops (if the system is really reliable) and monkeys (with attached device transmitting that signal) can pass them securely. Once a mine detonates it should be replaced (in best case even before the body is evacuated). To this end mines should form some sort of low-energy wireless mesh network (which operates in the 433 MHz unlicensed ISM band/SRD band and can penetrate concrete and water; something like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DASH7 ) so absence of a mine (e.g. after detonation) can be easily detected automatically and communicated to the command and control center.

The army uses dogs, dolphins, deers, etc. - so why not also monkeys? Monkeys are smart...
