קריאה לא לארח את סמוטריץ' בארה"ב

Dear Mr. Goldstein,

We, the undersigned, were shocked to learn that "Israel Bonds" will be hosting Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, an outspoken and virulent racist, at its upcoming annual convention in Washington. We ask that you cancel his invitation immediately.

Last week after the killing of two Israelis by a terrorist, settlers who live near the Palestinian village "Huara" went on a rampage and carried out a pogrom. According to security forces, more than 15 homes in the village were burned, tens of residents were injured, and more than 30 residents were evacuated after 4 parking lots were set on fire, with 25 cars aflame. Tens were hurt by stones hurled at them.

Minister Smotrich not only failed to condemn this attack but called to "erase" the village. The day following publication of his remarks, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz wrote he should be investigated for his support of what appears to be a war crime and a spokesperson for the State Department called Smotrich's comments revolting and disgusting. It will be not just surprising but an embarrassment if this man is honored by Israel Bonds.

The outrageous call by the minister, outright incitement to violence, is one of a long list of racist and other unspeakable comments made by Smotrich. He is a disgrace, a blot on the state of Israel and on all the Jewish people.

Smotrich should not be invited to represent the State of Israel and certainly should not be hosted by Israel Bonds, take part in or address a conference of an organization as important as yours.

We, the undersigned, therefore ask that you withdraw your invitation to him and prevent his participation in your event.

קראנו בתדהמה שארגון "Israel Bonds" עומד לארח את השר סמוטריץ', הגזען הבוטה, בכנס השנתי בוואשינגטון. אנחנו מבקשים שתבטלו את הזמנתו לאלתר.

בשבוע שעבר לאחר רצח של שני ישראלים על ידי מחבל, מתנחלים פשטו על הכפר הפלסטיני חווארה וביצועו בו פוגרום. לפי מערכת הביטחון יותר מ-15 בתים בכפר נשרפו וכ-30 תושבים פונו, לאחר שארבעה מגרשי רכב, וכ-25 מכוניות נשרפו. עשרות נפגעו מזריקת אבנים .שר האוצר של מדינת ישראל כיום, בצלאל סמוטריץ', לא רק שלא גינה את המעשה אלא קרא "למחוק" את כפר. למחרת פרסום דבריו, עיתון הארץ קרא לחקור את השר על מה שנראה כפשע מלחמה ומשרד החוץ של ארצות הברית כינה את דבריו "מעוררי סלידה ומגעילים". יהיה זה לא רק תמוה אלא מביך אם Israel Bonds יתן לאיש זה במת כבוד.

 אמירה מקוממת זאת, המהווה הסתה לאלימות, מצטרפת לשורה ארוכה של אמירות גזעניות של סמוטריץ'. התנהגותו היא בושה, כתם על המדינה ועל העם היהודי.

סמוטריץ' לא צריך לייצג את מדינת ישראל, וודאי שלא צריך להיות אורח שיישא דברים בכנס המכובד של ארגונכם החשוב. על כן אנו, החתומים למטה, קוראים לכם לבטל את בואו ואת השתתפותו בכנס.
