משבר ברחובות: עצומה חדשה!
מועצת העיר ברחובות העניקה לאחרונה אישור ראשוני לסמינר מורים (2-4 קומות) על גב פעוטון.  מדובר במעון "אמונה" הוותיק, כמה דקות הליכה ממכון ויצמן. 

תושבי רחובות מודאגים מכמה סיבות. למשל:
 
(א) אין לחנך פעוטות וגברים צעירים, באותו בניין! מה גם, שהשטח כולו קטן כל כך, שהתוכנית תגרום לצפיפות קשה. 

(ב) העיר רחובות סובלת ממצוקת חניה ופקקי תנועה כבר היום. ובעירנו, יש כבר 3 (!) מוסדות להשכלה גבוהה (מכון ויצמן, פקולטה, פרס).  לכן, איננו העיר הנכונה לארח ע-ו-ד מוסד להשכלה גבוהה שיצרוך ע-ו-ד חניה ויגרום לע-ו-ד פקקים. זאת במיוחד, בשכונת מגורים שאין בה מגרשי חניה, בעלת רחובות צרים במיוחד שבהם החניה לא מספיקה אפילו לתושבים הנוכחיים. 

מה גם, שבאותו איזור קטנטן בדיוק, שוכנים כבר לפחות  6 (!) בתי ספר (תיכון דה-שליט, בכור לוי, ישיבת הדרום, תחכמוני, שריד, סמילנסקי), כמה אפשר לאמלל הורים שמסיעים את ילדיהם, למשל בימי גשם? 

לסיכום: רוצים סמינר למורים? חפשו אזור תעשייה מרווח או איזור כפרי. לא בשכונת מגורים! לא ברור מדוע מועצת העיר שלנו מאשרת משהו שפוגע בצרכים שלנו - במקום לקדם אותנו. לכן אנו מבקשים מראש עיריית רחובות החדש מתן דיל, להסיר תכנית זו מסדר היום. 

אך מתן דיל יעשה זאת, רק אם מספר רב של תושבי רחובות יצטרפו לדרישה. לכן, אנא - חתמו בדחיפות להלן (שם וכתובת דוא"ל) כדי לאשר את התנגדותנו המשותפת לתוכנית הבנייה מעל מעון "אמונה". 

כמו כן, העבירו הלאה - לחברים ולקבוצות ווצפ ברחובות. 
אסור לאפשר הקצאת קרקע חסרת היגיון שכזו, בשום מקום בעיר! 
חלון הזמן להתנגדות - מאד קצר! תודה רבה על שיתוף הפעולה!

IMPORTANT REHOVOT INITIATIVE: Unfortunately, the Rehovot City Council recently approved the first stage of a plan to build a teachers’ seminary (2 – 4 floors) on top of the long-standing Emuna day care center just opposite Rehovot’s famed Berman shul. The Rehovot public is concerned for many reasons. Just two examples: (a)  It is inappropriate to educate preschoolers and young men in the same building.  Moreover, the whole plot of land is so small, that this plan will create terrible crowding. (b) Rehovot already has 3 (!) higher-education facilities: Weizman, Faculta, Peres Academic Center. Given Rehovot’s parking crisis and traffic jams, ours is the wrong city to be housing yet another higher-ed facility which will consume additional parking and cause more traffic jams.  This is especially inadvisable  in a residential neighborhood with narrow streets, no parking lots, insufficient parking for the current residents and 5 (!) schools (including a huge high-school – deShalit) in very close proximity. Note that Peres Academic Center - in contrast - was built in a spacious industrial (not residential) area. 
It is not clear why our city council, who should be working for us, is approving something that harms, rather than promotes, local needs.  We seek the personal intervention of the new Rehovot mayor Matan Deal, to entirely remove this plan from the agenda.  He will only do so if a large number of Rehovot residents urge this. So, please urgently sign below (name and email address) to confirm our joint opposition to the Rehovot’s City Council plan. Also, please forward this to your Rehovot friends and groups, including your building/neighborhood Whatsapp group. Time is of the essence! This type of indiscriminate land allocation should not be tolerated in any part of Rehovot.
