הרב טאו - זו לא תורה!

נגד הרב צב''י טאו עומדות תלונות לא מועטות על פגיעות מיניות קשות שביצע לכאורה, מתוכן שלוש תלונות ששטחו מתלוננים בפנים גלויות.

הרב צב''י טאו זומן לחקירה במשטרה, נחקר תחת אזהרה, שוחרר בערבות גבוהה ואף קיבל צו הרחקה ממקומות מסוימים. תיקו הועבר לפרקליטות בחשד לעבירות אונס, תקיפה בנסיבות מחמירות, חטיפה ומעשה מגונה בקטין.

אף שיכול היה לתבוע דיבה לו לא ארעו המקרים, נמנע הרב טאו מלהגיש תביעה, לא התבטא באופן ציבורי בעניין ולא התייחס לתלונות נגדו. בניגוד לשתיקתו הציבורית המתעלמת, פנה עורך דינו של הרב טאו בשמו בהצעת דמי שתיקה גבוהים תמורת גניזת סיפורה של המתלוננת הראשית נגדו והתחייבותה שלא להשמיע קולה.

בנוסף לשלושת המתלוננים שנחשפו לציבור בפנים גלויות הגיעו לידי צוות ניהול המאבק סיפוריהם של מתלוננים נוספים החוששים להיחשף, ובהם עדויות על פגיעות מיניות קשות שביצע בהם הרב טאו. היקפם ומספרם של סיפורי הפגיעות ששטחו המתלוננים אינם מותירים מקום רב לספק ומובילים למסקנה אחת -  הרב טאו ביצע לכאורה עבירות מין קשות.

לא מעט נפגעים לכאורה חוששים להתלונן במשטרה או לספר באופן גלוי על הפגיעה, וזאת בשל נסיונות השתקה מצד גורמים שונים. איומים והכפשות הם מנת חלקם של המתלוננים שהעזו להיחשף וסיפרו את סיפורם בפנים גלויות.

אנו פונים אל הציבור ומבקשים את עזרתו  בהענקת תמיכה אישית, נפשית וחברתית לנפגעים, ובעידודם לפנות למשטרה או לגורמים מוסמכים כדי להפסיק את מסכת הפגיעות הרבות והקשות שהזכרנו.

אנו מצהירים על כוונתנו לתת להם גיבוי ותמיכה ציבורית אם יחליטו לספר על הפגיעות שעברו ועל העוול שנגרם להם. חשיפת מעשיו לכאורה של הרב טאו והעמדתו לדין עשויות להביא מעט מזור לנפשם הפצועה של המתלוננים ולכונן תרבות מוסרית וחברתית הדוגלת במתן אמון בנפגעים ובסיוע בשיקומם.

הנחת היסוד שמשמיעים חדשות לבקרים מכחישי אפשרות הפגיעה, ולפיה לא ייתכן שיש אמת בתלונות נגד הרב טאו, מתעלמת ביודעין מצעקת הנפגעים הרבים, ומהכאב העצום שהם חווים כתוצאה מהפגיעה.

השתקת נפגעים ונפגעות אינה דרכה של תורה. 

הגשת תלונה ופרסום מעלליו של אדם פוגע אינם לשון הרע, אלא מצווה של הצלת נפשות ממש.

גילוי האמת אינו חילול השם אלא קידוש השם, והוא עדות לעוצמתה של חברה היודעת לבער את הרע שבקרבה ולהגן על הזועק לעזרה.נוסח באנגלית:

Rabbi Tzvi Tau is accused of numerous instances of alleged sexual assault; three complainants have testified openly.

Rabbi Tau was summoned to a police investigation under warning, released for a high bail fee and even received a restraining order preventing him from being in certain places. His case was transferred to the state attorney’s office under suspicion for rape, aggravated assault, kidnapping and indecent acts with a minor.

Although he could have sued for libel had these cases never occurred, Rabbi Tau refrained from doing so, or from responding publicly to the allegations. In contrast to his public silence, Tau’s attorney offered the main plaintiff major hush money in exchange for retracting her complaint, and for her commitment not to speak further of the case.

In addition to the three figures that have gone public, the campaign management team received complaints from three more people concerning alleged severe sexual assaults committed by Rabbi Tau. The high number of testimonies provided by the complainants leave no room for doubt and lead to one conclusion- Rabbi Tau has allegedly committed this harsh sexual conduct.

A vast number of alleged victims are afraid of testifying to the police or of speaking publicly of the assault they’d experienced, due to the attempts by various forces to cover the story up. Threats and defamations are just a small part of what the victims experience on a daily basis, just for telling their story and daring to share it openly.

We ask for the community’s help by providing social, mental and personal support to the victims, encouraging them to testify to the police or to other certified sources in order to stop the ongoing assaults mentioned above.

We declare our intention to give the victims our full public support if they decide to share their story and the injustice being done to them. The exposure of Rabbi Tau’s alleged acts and putting him on trial may bring some comfort to their injured souls and create a moral and social culture which is based on trusting the victims and helping with their recovery.

Those who deny these accusations, and consistently claim that it is impossible that there is truth in the allegations against Rabbi Tau, purposely ignore the cries of the many victims, and the immense pain they suffer because of the abuse.

Silencing victims of sexual abuse is not the way of the Torah.

Reporting abuse to the police, and publicizing the acts of a sexual predator are not acts of ‘lashon hara’ but rather a fulfillment of the commandment to save lives- literally ‘pikuach nefesh’.Uncovering the truth is not a violation of God's name (Hilul Hashem) but its sanctification (Kiddush Hashem) and a testimony to the power of a society that knows how to eradicate evil from its midst and to protect those in need of help.
