Re: Dropping of CNN by the YES cable company

About four years ago, the HOT cable company dropped the CNN news channel just before the elections in theUnited States. Those who wished to continue viewing CNN had the option of switching to the YES cable network. Now, YES is considering dropping CNN, again during an election period in theUnited States. Dropping CNN would constitute a significant impairment to the service YES provides to its English speaking customers, particularly those who immigrated from theUnited States. Although YES’s contract did not guarantee that it would always carry CNN, its dropping of this channel may also be considered a breach of trust to clients who joined the YES network in order to be able to continue viewing CNN. There are about 300,000 people inIsraelwhose mother tongue is English (according to an estimate by the director of the Association of Americans and Canadians inIsrael). It is reasonable to infer that other people inIsraelwho are not native English-speakers will also suffer from the removal of CNN from YES’s list of available channels. News coverage on the other English-language channels is also less international in its outlook.

We urgently request that you continue including  CNN among the channels YES offers to its subscribers.
