סטודנטים למען הקמת בית כנסת במרכז הבינתחומי הרצליה 

זכר לעולם בריתו, דבר צוה לאלף דור

Tehillim 105, 8:

בבית הספר העברי והבינלאומי במרכז הבינתחומי לומדים לפחות כ-3500 סטודנטים המגדירים עצמם דתיים או כמחזיקים בערכים יהודיים ומסורתיים - ליברליים. 

כידוע, עד לחורבן היה בית המקדש המרכז הרוחני הבלעדי עבור עם ישראל. בית הכנסת ירש את מקומו של בית המקדש והפך למרכז חיי החברה והרוח של היהדות בתקופה שלאחר החורבן. בכל מקום,בו הייתה קהילה יהודית הוקם בית כנסת והתפילה בו עמדה במרכז לעומת עבודת הקורבנות שהייתה נהוגה בבית המקדש. בדרך כלל,בתי כנסת ממוקמים במבנה פשוט בניגוד למבנה המפואר בו שכן בית המקדש וזאת על מנת שחורבנו ייזכר.

בתי הכנסת מהווים לא רק מקום לתפילה, אלא גם כמקום מפגש של חברי הקהילה היהודית. ולכן, הם משרתים גם כמרכזים קהילתיים. בית הכנסת במרכז הבינתחומי הרצליה ישרת כמקום של חגיגת החגים, לימוד, שמיעת הרצאות שיעסקו בקורות העם היהודי ,לקריאת התורה וכמובן כמקום תפילה,אשר בואו של ציבור הסטודנטים והסגל במרכז כולו יתקבל בו בברכה.

אנו, סטודנטים במרכז בינתחומי הרצליה, דורשים הקמת בית תפילה יהודי כמקובל בכל המוסדות האקדמיים ברחבי ישראל. בעזרת השם, העצומה תגייס מספר חתימות די והותר למען קבלת התמיכה ממקבלי החלטות בקמפוס ובית הכנסת יווסד!

Students for the Establishment

of a Synagogue in IDC Herzliya

Between the International and Hebrew schools at the IDC, there are approximately 3,500 Masorti students, who see themselves such either religious or as holders of Jewish traditional and liberal values. 

After the Destruction of the Holy Temple, the synagogue became the center of Jewish life and the spirit of Jewish society. Synagogues were constructed in every place that Jews were found. Prayer in the synagogue became the central part of Jewish religious life and took the place of the Temple sacrifices. Often, synagogues are purposely situated in simple buildings, as opposed to magnificent structures such as the First and Second Temples, in order that their Destruction may be remembered.

The synagogue serves not only as a place of prayer, but as a place of meeting, a community center.  A synagogue in IDC Herzelia will serve as a place of celebration during holidays, a place to learn and to hear lectures, a place for the reading of Torah, and of course a house of prayer where all will be welcome.

We, the students of IDC Herzliya, demand that a house of Jewish prayer be established in the IDC, as is the accepted practice in all academic institutions in all parts of Israel. G-d willing, this petition will gather enough signatures to gain the support of the decision-makers on campus, and a synagogue will be established!
