אל תיקחו לנו את באר התקוה!
עבור רבים מאיתנו בבית שמש, גיל קרסנטי ובאר התקווה הפכו חלק מחיינו. ילדינו, צעירים, מבוגרים, רבים מהם כבר סיימו תיכון, עדיין טוענים כי הם אלה שעבדו הכי קשה להקים את אחד המקומות היפים ביותר סביב בית שמש. הקייטנות של גיל הפכו לאגדה עבור רבים, וכך גם הטיולים והחוגים הספוגים ערכי טבע, סביבה ומורשת. במהלך עשר השנים האחרונות, באר התקווה הפכה למרכז עבור כל הפעילויות הללו, וגם עבור פעילויות נוספות לקהל הרחב בחגים, לקהילת עולי אתיופיה בעיר, ולקבוצות מבקרים מחוץ לעיר.
בזכות הפעילות הענפה של גיל ושל ילדינו בבאר התקוה, משרד החינוך הקים במקום חווה חקלאית, שבה ילדים במסגרת החינוך הפורמלי מגיעים לפעילות, ואנו מברכים על כך.
עם זאת אנו מרגישים צורך גדול להמשיך את הפעילות הבלתי פורמלית במתכונת שאנחנו וילדינו מכירים ואוהבים. לצערנו, עם הקמת החווה החקלאית, פעילות זו הופסקה, והמתחם היום סגור לקהל הרחב. אנחנו רוצים שעמותת באר התקוה וגיל קרסנטי יוכלו להמשיך להפעיל במקום פעילות קהילתית בשביל הילדים והנוער שלנו ובשביל עתיד העיר. אנחנו דורשים שלילדינו יותר להיכנס למקום שהם במו ידיהם בנו ונטעו - מקום שבאמת השריש בהם באר של תקווה.
אנו קוראים לכל הגורמים הקשורים לחווה החקלאית, כולל מנהל החווה, ומחזיק תיק החינוך מר ריצ'ארד פרס, לאפשר לגיל ולעמותת באר התקוה להמשיך את פעילותם באתר, לאחר תיאום הסידורים הטכניים הדרושים.
Don't take Be'er Hatikva away from us!For many of us in this town, Gil Karasenty and Be'er Hatikva have become household names. Our kids, younger, older, many of them already post high school and in the army, still claim that they were the ones who worked the hardest to restore and build one of the most meaningful beauty spots around Beit Shemesh. Gil's summer camps have become a legend for many, likewise his tiyulim, chugim, and total commitment to nature, environmental issues and the youth of this town. Over the last ten years, Be'er Hatikva has become the center for these activities and many more, including workshops during the Chagim, concerts for the city's youth, and agricultural activity for the local Ethiopian community.Thanks to the enthusiastic activity of Gil and our children at the Be'er, the Ministry of Education has set up an agricultural farm at Be'er Hatikva, where school children can come and take part in these activities as part of their formal education. We believe that this is a wonderful way to spread the same values that Gil gave to our kids.Unfortunately, Gil has been informed that Be'er Hatikva can no longer be used for the informal education programs that he has created over the years and that he had planned to continue. As it stands now, the area is closed off to the general public.It is inconceivable that the people who brought Be'er Hatikva to life are now being prevented from continuing these activities.We demand that Gil's wonderful programs at Be'er Hatikva be allowed to continue, and that our children be allowed entry to the "Well of Hope" that they themselves built and planted.We call on all parties involved, including the farm manager and city council member Richard Peres, to allow Gil and the Be'er Hatikva amutah to continue their activities at the site, after making the necessary technical arrangements.
