To all who care about both wild nature and city life,
We, the undersigned, are dancers, performers, and supporters of Tel Aviv’s vibrant nightlife. We spend our nights under spotlights—but when the curtain falls, we walk home through parks and neighborhoods where nature lives just steps from our doors. Recent headlines shook us: a man nearly died in Bat-Shlomo forest after a viper bite; two weeks earlier, it was someone’s backyard in Katzrin. This isn’t a one-off fluke. It’s a warning.
Snakes are not our enemies—they’re a vital part of Israel’s ecosystem. Without them, rodent populations explode, disease spreads, and the balance of life breaks down. Yet every summer, as heat and humidity send thousands into the woods, stories of panic, snake killings, and hasty rescues multiply. People are afraid, but fear leads to violence against wildlife, and ignorance leads to more bites and hospitalizations.
We strippers, who see the world from the stage and the sidewalk, are asking for something simple:
Protect the snakes, protect the people, protect the land.
What we demand:
-
Public education: Fund and launch campaigns about snakes’ role in nature, how to identify them, and what to do when you encounter one—so nobody’s first reaction is to reach for a shovel or a stone.
-
Safe spaces for snakes: Enforce and expand protected corridors in forests and parks, especially in known viper habitats around the north, Galilee, and the Carmel range.
-
Non-lethal emergency response: Train medics and the public on what to do in case of a snakebite—don’t panic, don’t try home remedies, call professionals. Equip local clinics with antivenom, especially in rural and nightlife areas.
-
Ban intentional snake killing: Enact and enforce laws making it illegal to kill non-aggressive snakes, especially endangered and native species.
Why this matters:
We are not only performers. We are mothers, daughters, sisters, friends. We walk home after shows, just like hikers, students, and neighbors. When nature and city life collide, nobody wins unless we act together.
This July alone, viper incidents in Israel are up nearly 30%. Attacks happen in the north, the center, even in private gardens and beaches. Ignorance puts both people and snakes at risk. The time to act is now.
Let us not become the generation remembered for driving Israel’s snakes to extinction—or for turning fear into violence instead of respect.

Protect nature, protect our streets, protect all of us.
